Metairie Medical Center Continues to Dispense Hope to New Orleans

September 2009

Partnership with Daughters of Charity Pharmacy Provides Access to Needed Medications

The Daughters of Charity Services of New Orleans (DCSNO) pharmacy, at its Metairie Medical Center, continues to make it possible for deserving patients to receive the medications they so desperately need through a unique partnership with Nashville-based organization, Dispensary of Hope.

Dispensary of Hope is a growing network of prescription medicine dispensing sites, sourcing partners and financial partners that assist poor and underserved individuals in getting the medications they need for the short and long-term.

"This partnership has given us the resources to provide our patients with greater access to quality healthcare," said Michael Griffin, CEO of Daughters of Charity Services of New Orleans. "I am confident this partnership will continue to positively impact many lives in the area."

Daughters of Charity teamed up with Dispensary of Hope in April of 2008. Since that time, DCSNO, a member of Ascension Health, has been able to dispense over $75,000 in medications to the low-income or uninsured people in the area. DCSNO was the first health care facility in New Orleans to adopt the Dispensary of Hope program and instrumental in sharing the model with the other members of the 504 HealthNet.

"No one should be deprived of medications because of an inability to pay for them. Dispensary of Hope is proud to partner with Daughters of Charity Services of New Orleans to complement the excellent service they already provide to the community," said Jason Dinger, Chief Executive Officer of Dispensary of Hope.

The Metairie Medical Center is located at 111 North Causeway Boulevard.

Dispensary of Hope and Daughters of Charity Services of New Orleans continue to seek support from local physicians who can donate excess, unexpired medications to the Dispensary. Please visit: www.dispensaryofhope.org and click "Donate Meds" if you are able to contribute.
