Our mission to serve the most vulnerable with access to medication drives the ongoing commitment to measure and report on outcomes. In 2015, the Advisory Board Company produced a study and subsequent white paper that established the foundation of evidence of improved health outcomes and health system savings. We were not surprised but certainly pleased to see $650,000 in attributable savings per 1,000 patients. WATCH THE VIDEO. The 2015 study included one health system in a single geographic area. A broader research pursuit was necessary to realize the expansive pragmatic benefits of partnering with Dispensary of Hope.
Today, we are releasing a national study with RTI International, which shows reduced hospital utilization for patients enrolled in a Dispensary of Hope medication access program, delivering health system savings of $3.1 MILLION per thousand patients per year and decreases in inpatient stays by 20%. The study also shows promise for Dispensary of Hope as a powerful HEALTH EQUITY resource–more than half of the patients identified as Black/African American.
