For nearly five years, Cone Health Community Health and Wellness Pharmacy has been a valuable partner of Dispensary of Hope. Our shared mission of expanding medication access to low-income, uninsured patients has been the driving force behind our work together.
Located in Greensboro, North Carolina, Cone Health Community Health and Wellness Pharmacy is within an internal medicine clinic. Since joining the Dispensary of Hope network in March 2016, the pharmacy has dispensed nearly 57,000 prescriptions to hundreds of patients in need, free of charge. Not only are these medications vital to improving patients’ quality of life, they also help reduce Emergency Department visits and hospital expenses by making the daily management of chronic diseases accessible and affordable.
The success and impact the pharmacy has experienced within their patient population and community has inspired their advocacy for the Dispensary of Hope program. Because of their mission advancement efforts, Cone Health Community Health and Wellness Pharmacy was able to successfully refer Rockingham County Health Department Pharmacy into the Dispensary of Hope network, expanding medication access beyond their own county and opening doors for patients they may never even see. Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of awarding the team at Cone Health Community Health and Wellness Pharmacy with the 2020 Network Ambassador Award, to honor their meaningful work and express our gratitude for their partnership.
Today, 30 miles north of Greensboro, in Wentworth, North Carolina, Rockingham County Health Department Pharmacy is growing their own Dispensary of Hope program and will hopefully serve hundreds more North Carolina residents with free medication. We are grateful for their dedicated services to their patients and look forward to supporting the growth of their charity care initiatives.
